Tsunagu Yokohama Field (CIRCULAR LINK YOKOHAMA Field) is the outdoor, hands-on site of the City of Yokohama at GREEN×EXPO 2027. Covering about 10,000 m² in a corner of the SATOYAMA Village in the southeast of the venue, it will offer flower beds of Yokohama-grown plants, gardens created with residents who are active in environmental work, guided tours and workshops. It was called the “activity base using a field” until it was named on September 29, 2026. The city’s indoor site, CIRCULAR LINK YOKOHAMA Hub, is in the Urban GX Village.

Highlights

The gently sloping site will be planted with many flowers and greenery, including sustainable flower beds that attract wildlife, a plaza for workshops such as making homes for insects, and a space in existing woodland where visitors can touch branches and fallen leaves. It builds on what Yokohama has learned since the 2017 National Urban Greening Fair and uses flower seedlings grown in the city. The city has announced five areas:

  1. Welcome Garden at the entrance, using plants produced in Yokohama
  2. A field built together with residents and environmental groups
  3. Activity Plaza, a lawn for events and workshops
  4. Forest for observation and play, for learning how biodiversity connects to daily life
  5. Future Field, a garden that puts biodiversity, resource circulation and lower environmental impact into practice

About 100 members of groups such as park volunteer associations were recruited for a sustainable flower bed program. They are learning about plants and maintenance, will plant the beds they designed at the venue in December 2026 (date to be fixed), and are expected to help care for them during the Expo.

On November 14, 2026, the city plans a Guinness World Records attempt for the most people planting bulbs simultaneously across multiple venues, with this field as the main site (400 of 2,100 participants) linked online to four city parks. The “bulb mix” method, started at Yamashita Park for the 2017 fair, mixes spring bulbs such as tulips, daffodils and grape hyacinths so they bloom in succession. The city says the bulbs will color the venue and city parks in spring 2027.

Volunteer tour guides will introduce flowers and coexistence with wildlife, mainly on weekends and holidays according to the city, while field volunteers will tend the plants. The city received 13,565 volunteer applications for about 1,000 places across its two sites.

Exhibitor

The City of Yokohama is the exhibitor, and the official website is run by the Executive Committee of the Yokohama Civic Activities Field for GREEN×EXPO 2027, whose secretariat is in the city’s Midori Kankyo (green and environment) Bureau. The city aims for the field to spread environmental activities across local communities after the Expo.
