The Bank of Yokohama GREEN WALL is a living wall that will be installed directly facing the entrance gate with sponsorship from The Bank of Yokohama. One of the Expo Association’s sponsor partner contents, it is described by the association as the “face” of GREEN×EXPO 2027, welcoming visitors at the gate that every visitor sees first. Its design concept is “Kaleidoscope.”

Highlights and exhibits

  • A wall that changes over time: The colors, shapes, and expressions of the plants change with time, expressing how diverse characters and values mix to create a larger world together (association, June 12, 2026). The Nikkei reports that seasonal plants will be planted so the wall’s look changes through the seasons, and the Kanagawa Shimbun says it will express the diverse nature of the city.
  • Planting details not yet announced: The plant species, their number, and the wall’s structure have not been announced (as of October 2026).

The bank’s sponsorship also covers night-time features:

  • Projection mapping on a former ammunition depot: Images and sound by official creator Mika Ninagawa with EiM will be projected onto a former earth-covered ammunition depot on the site to light up GREEN×EXPO 2027 at night (association, September 15, 2026). The association calls it a structure that carries the area’s history; the Kanagawa Shimbun reports that it is a former Imperial Japanese Navy facility. Dates and times have not been announced.
  • Main Garden lighting: In June the association said lighting up the Main Garden was being considered. The Kanagawa Shimbun reports a “night garden” that brings out the depth and three-dimensional forms of the plants.

Building and design

Up to 4 m high and about 40 m long in total (association, June 12, 2026). The published rendering shows a long wall covered in greenery, dotted with flowering plants and fitted with several white, picture-frame-like openings. The designer has not been announced (as of October 2026).
