“UR GREEN TABLE” is the space that the Urban Renaissance Agency (UR) is creating for GREEN×EXPO 2027. Its concept is “a table for the future of our neighbourhoods and everyday life.” The roughly 1,300 m² area sits in the SATOYAMA Village zone in the southeast of the venue. Under the theme “townscapes and lifestyles where people shine,” UR plans to share ideas for future-oriented town planning and housing.

Highlights and exhibits

In UR’s words, “GREEN” stands for the green infrastructure that supports cities — well-being, disaster resilience, energy and food — while “TABLE” stands for a place where people gather and new ideas are born. The special website, relaunched on September 11, 2026, says that “when people gather around the table, conversation naturally begins,” and that UR has turned many different aspects of “GREEN” into exhibits and events. It suggests two ways to spend time:

  • Taking a break in a comfortable covered plaza, with chairs and a little shade
  • Joining exhibits and events that engage all five senses

The key visual shows people, animals and plants gathered around a large green table. The site also introduces UR’s green infrastructure work, such as its green bank system and its recycle study program. Specific exhibits and event dates have not been announced (as of October 2026).

Building and design

  • The area is about 1,300 m². A rendering was released on March 19, 2026; UR notes that it may change.
  • On July 17, 2026, UR reported on its special website that construction had begun. On September 25, its official X account said the scaffolding was up and construction was progressing smoothly.
  • Heat measures are being prepared so visitors can enjoy the space on hot days (official X, September 16). Details have not been announced.
  • The design and construction firms have not been named in official materials (as of October 2026).

About the exhibitor

UR is an incorporated administrative agency that implements national policy on towns and housing. Its history began with efforts to ease Japan’s postwar housing shortage, and it has been involved in building towns and communities since 1955; today it works on urban renewal, rental housing and disaster response support. UR takes part as a “participating partner” rather than as a corporate Village exhibitor, and the Expo Association has a separate page for it.
