The Mitsubishi Minnano Miraikan is the pavilion of the Mitsubishi General Committee for GREEN×EXPO 2027, made up of 24 Mitsubishi group companies, in the Urban GX Village. Its exhibit theme is “Everyone Together, for a Planet of Abundance.” The name adds “Minnano” (“everyone’s”) to “Mitsubishi Miraikan,” used since the 1970 Osaka Expo, expressing the idea of “everyone together, creating happiness for tomorrow.”

Highlights and exhibits

At a media briefing on September 24, 2026, the committee announced a ride-based experience called “Find the Seeds for the Future” (in Japanese, “Mitsukete Mina! Mirai e no Tane”).

  • Visitors are first greeted by Hisaya Iwasaki, Mitsubishi’s third president, later known as a “country gentleman.” Guided by him and the navigation character MeNA, they board vehicles and set off on a journey.
  • The ride passes through worlds such as the sea, land, and sky, using video, sound, lighting, and interactive effects to show how daily life and society are connected with nature.
  • Along the way, initiatives and possibilities for coexistence between future cities and nature are introduced as “seeds for the future,” so that each visitor finds their own seed and keeps thinking “what could I do?” after leaving.
  • A chief designer from Tanseisha said the space is designed around the movement of the vehicles, visitors’ sightlines, and their changing emotions; a Tanseisha producer said the aim is an experience that absorbs both children and adults.
  • According to the Nikkei, the ride takes about 30 minutes and is wheelchair accessible.

Building and design

  • The building design expresses “small pieces forming a large group.” It is designed by a project team from Mitsubishi Jisho Design.
  • It uses the “GX House” provided by the Association (supplied by Daiwa Lease) to reduce environmental impact — a reusable building whose design and construction the Association handles on behalf of exhibitors. The building was handed over at the end of January 2026, and a ground-breaking ceremony was held inside on February 2.
  • Timber from the ceiling beams and other parts of the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai “Mitsubishi Miraikan” is to be ground into wood powder, mixed with resin, and 3D-printed into new building material for this pavilion’s exterior (per Mitsubishi’s October 2025 announcement).
  • The Nikkei reports a building area of about 1,500 m².

About the exhibitor

The committee is made up of 24 Mitsubishi group companies, including Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Mitsubishi Corporation, MUFG Bank, Kirin Holdings, and Nikon. The Mitsubishi group has exhibited a “Mitsubishi Miraikan” at every expo held in Japan since 1970 — Okinawa 1975, Tsukuba 1985, Osaka 1990, Aichi 2005, and Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, where it welcomed more than 1.25 million visitors in six months. Yokohama is where founder Yataro Iwasaki opened Japan’s first regular overseas shipping route.
